President | Legislation President Hamid calls for timely legislation
Dhaka, September 29: President Mohammad Abdul Hamid has said that in addition to up-to-date laws, impartial implementation of existing laws is equally important in establishing the rule of law in the country.
"Equally important is the timely application of the law as well as the impartial application of the law. I urge the Law Commission to take necessary steps to modernize and update the existing laws and regulations of the country," he said while meeting a four-member delegation of the Law Commission, who presented its annual report for the year 2020 to the President at Bangabhaban on Tuesday (September 28).
The delegation briefed the President on the overall activities of the Commission and various aspects of the Annual Report. Chairman of the Commission Justice ABM Khairul Haque led the delegation. Commission member Justice ATM Fazle Kabir, among others, was present at the time.
Secretary to the President's Office Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam and Secretary (Joint) Md. Wahidul Islam Khan were present on the occasion.
