President returns home from Singapore after undergoing treatment

Dhaka, Nov 2: President Md. Shahabuddin has returned home after taking treatment in Singapore. Bangladesh Biman flight BG-585 carrying the President and his wife Dr. Rebecca Sultana landed in Dhaka at 6 pm on Wednesday.

The President was received at the airport by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Cabinet Secretary, Chief of the Three Forces, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, Public Security Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Secretary to the Office of the President, Singapore in Bangladesh. Consul Sheela Pillai was welcomed by senior civil and military officials concerned.

On October 16, President Md. Shahabuddin left Dhaka for Singapore on a Bangladesh Biman flight. After the necessary tests, the President's bypass surgery was successfully completed on October 18 under the supervision of cardiac surgeon Professor Dr. Kofidis Theodoros at the National University Hospital of Singapore.

The President was shifted to the cabin after being under the intensive care of doctors in the intensive care unit after the surgery. The President returned to the hotel from the hospital on October 25 as his physical condition improved. Apart from walking and normal activities, the President also completed official activities from the hotel as per the doctor's advice.

In a board meeting of doctors formed to review the President's treatment and physical condition after the surgery, considering various reports and physical condition, President Md. Shahabuddin returned to the country today in view of the opinion that he can travel by plane within November 1.
