Prime Minister directs to set up a marine aquarium in Cox's Bazar

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 5: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the concerned authorities to build a modern marine aquarium in Cox's Bazar.

She gave the direction at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday (April 5). Planning Minister M A Mannan said this to reporters after the meeting.

Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting held at NEC Conference Room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. She took part in the meeting via video conference from her official residence Ganobhaban.

Highlighting the Prime Minister's directives, the Planning Minister said, "The second phase of the Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute (BORI) project has been approved. The project will be implemented by June 2024. The proposed cost of the project is estimated at Rs 444 crore. While approving the project, the Prime Minister asked for setting up a fish aquarium in Cox's Bazar."
