Dhaka, May 6: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the coronation ceremony of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in London. King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla Parker were crowned at the ceremony.

He took the coronation oath by placing his hands on the holy gospel. Charles III swore to keep and keep his promises as king. He also took an oath as a 'devout Protestant'.

The Archbishop of Canterbury took his coronation oath at Westminster Abbey. Earlier, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla arrived at Westminster Abbey. They took part in a horse-drawn carriage procession from Buckingham Palace.

Queen Consort Camilla's relatives attended the ceremony in a minibus. Camilla's son Tom Parker Bowles, daughter Laura Lopes and her ex-husband Andrew arrive at the Abbey.

Earlier on May 5, Sheikh Hasina attended the reception given by King Charles III for heads of state and government and foreign representatives. Before the reception, the Prime Minister attended the biennial meeting of Commonwealth leaders on Friday afternoon. He also attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting.

The summit was held at Marlborough House, Commonwealth Secretariat, London. Meanwhile, Commonwealth Heads of Government exchanged views with King Charles III. The meeting was chaired by the Commonwealth Chair in Office of Rwandan President Paul Kagame. A joint photograph of the Commonwealth family was taken on the occasion.

The Prime Minister arrived in London on May 4. Earlier, he attended the event celebrating 50 years of World Bank's partnership with Bangladesh in Washington DC, USA. He also made an official visit to Japan.

74-year-old Charles became King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on September 8, 2022 after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. According to royal tradition, a British monarch is crowned after months of national mourning and massive preparations.
