Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 30 October 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed Imams to keep their eyes on our children so that they do not get involved in terrorism, militancy and drugs. She gave this instruction at the National Imam Conference at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Rupganj, Narayanganj on Monday.

The Prime Minister said, "Islam is a religion of peace. Islam is a tolerant religion. This is what our Prophet taught us. We follow his farewell Hajj message. You (Imam) should see to it that our sons and daughters do not get involved in terrorism, militancy and drugs."

She said, "There are people of other religions in this Bangladesh. They should also practice their religion properly. If someone does wrong, Allah will judge. We cannot say who is Muslim and who is not Muslim. Islam is a religion of peace. It does not prefer chaos or violence. We believe that even a leaf does not move without God's command. There should not be any kind of terrorism. We want peace at the grass root level."

The Prime Minister said, "Innocent people should not be killed. Peace should be maintained at the grassroots level. My only goal is to develop the people of Bangladesh. I want your prayers. The war that is going on in Palestine, the attack on them in Palestine, the way the little children are being killed, we don't want that. Bangladesh has sent aid to Palestine. I have requested all the heads of state in the world to stop the war."

The Prime Minister said, "We have always said, we want peace. We do not want unrest or war. We know the horrors of war."

Referring to the steps taken for the welfare of Islam, the Prime Minister said, "We want our pilgrims not to suffer. We have taken measures to facilitate the immigration of Hajj. We have recognized the education certificates of Qawmi Madrasahs. We have made libraries in 35 thousand mosques. We have made Islamic Arabic universities. For imams and muezzins we have established the Imam-Muezzin Welfare Trust. The ulama can take help if they are in danger, we have made the Zakat Fund Act."

The Prime Minister distributed awards among the best imams and world-winning Hafeez at the national level. She also announced the inauguration of 50 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers in the sixth phase. About 100,000 trained imams from all over the country attended the conference.
