Prime Minister Hasina inaugurates Bangladesh House in Maryland

Dhaka, September 30: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently visiting the USA, has inaugurated the newly constructed Bangladesh House in Maryland.

A press release signed by Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the newly constructed Bangladesh House in Maryland, USA at 4:30 pm local time on Wednesday. Earlier, she planted a fringe sapling in the premises of Bangladesh House. After the inauguration of Bangladesh House, the Prime Minister took part in the prayer. She then exchanged greetings with the Bangladesh Embassy and Bangladeshi diplomats stationed in the United States and their family members."

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Shahidul Islam and other senior officials were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in New York on September 19 after a two-day visit to Helsinki, the capital of Finland, to attend the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

During her stay in New York until September 24, the Prime Minister attended a number of high-level events, including the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, private and bilateral meetings with heads of county and government.

She followed in the footsteps of her father- Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman- in the General Assembly on September 24 and delivered a speech in Bengali.

On September 20, she inaugurated a bench dedicated to the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and planted a tree in the North Lawn garden of the UN headquarters.

The Prime Minister arrived in Washington from New York on September 25 after completing her official visit and is scheduled to return home via Helsinki on the night of October 1 as per the pre-arranged schedule.
