Dhaka, February 21: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has advised to be liberal in the use of common and familiar words. She said that it is most important that science research and researched knowledge be used in human work. It is better not to make scientific discoveries and scientific words incomprehensible. The most familiar and common words need to be used in our language.

The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating a four-day program on the occasion of International Mother Language Day 2022 on Monday (February 21).

She said, "Content in Bengali in known as 'adheyo'. However, everyone uses and knows 'content', they don't use 'adheyo'. I think the words that are most common and internationally known should be used in whatever language they come from."

The Prime Minister also suggested arranging science education with conventional words instead of being conservative.

She said, "There was no interest in studying science among the students of the school. That is why we have built Science and Technology Universities. So that the children are focused and attracted to study science."

Highlighting the development of his government at that time, the Prime Minister said, "We have set up an international mother tongue institute. Through this organization, we have taken initiative to preserve the endangered language and protect its dignity. We have ensured the use of Bengali language in information technology. Everyone can now write Bangla on various services including SMS on mobile. To protect the language and alphabet of ethnic groups from extinction, we have introduced textbooks in their language since 2017. This year we have given them about 33 thousand books. In 2021, we have introduced the International Mother Language National and International Medal. We have decided to give this medal every two years. We am giving fellowship and scholarships to language researchers."

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni also addressed the function.
