Prime Minister Hasina to return back to Dhaka today

Own representative, Dhaka, December 27: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leaving for her homeland on Monday after completing her first six-day bilateral visit to Maldives.

Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told state news agency BSS that a special VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her entourage will leave Velana International Airport on Monday at 13.00 (local time). The flight is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the evening.

The Prime Minister arrived in the Maldives on December 22 at the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih. On the second day of her visit on 23 December, two memorandums of understanding and an agreement for the abolition of double tax were signed on the recruitment of qualified health professionals and cooperation in youth and sports development. Also, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Healthcare and Medical Sciences has been renewed between the Ministries of Health of Bangladesh and Maldives.

Bangladesh has gifted 13 military vehicles to Maldives as a symbol of friendship between the two South Asian countries. A joint statement was issued after the bilateral talks.

During the visit, the Prime Minister held separate meetings with Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Vice-President Faisal Nasim, Speaker of the People's Majlis (National Assembly) Mohammad Nasheed and Chief Justice Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan. The Prime Minister addressed the Maldivian Parliament on the afternoon of 23 December.

Sheikh Hasina attended a state banquet hosted in her honor by the President and First Lady of the Maldives. On 24 December, she virtually participated in a reception given to expatriate Bangladeshis in Male.
