Own Correspondence, Dhaka, 7 September 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon everyone irrespective of caste, religion and caste to work together to build a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh by 2041.

She said, "Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians will work shoulder to shoulder to advance our motherland. We will build the Sonar Bangla of the father of the nation's dream and Smart Bangladesh by 2041."

The Prime Minister said this while interacting with the Hindu community at Ganabhaban on Thursday on the occasion of Janmashtami. At this time, she urged everyone to always be alert about any steps to destroy religious harmony in the country and propaganda against the progress of the nation.

She said, Bangladesh is moving forward and will move towards Smart Bangladesh with smart government, smart skilled manpower, smart economy and smart society. Her government has already transformed the country into digital Bangladesh as per the 2008 election promise.

Sheikh Hasina said that after coming to power, her government has restored the communal harmony and rights of the people irrespective of caste, religion and caste by amending the constitution.

She also said, "Military dictator Ziaur Rahman amended the constitution and abolished all the articles related to protecting the rights of all religions and freedom to celebrate religious festivals. Zia abolished Article 12 of the constitution, which guaranteed Amaden religious neutrality."

The Prime Minister said that secularism means that people of every religion will observe their religious rituals and festivals freely. Reminding the Hindu community, she said that the country belongs to everyone, because the country gained independence in 1971 after a nine-month war against the Pakistani invaders, regardless of caste, religion and caste.

Among others, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Minister of State for LGRD and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya and Minister of State for Religion Md. Faridul Haque Khan also spoke on the occasion.
