Prime Minister Hasina urges to expedite the expansion work of Dhaka Airport

Dhaka, March 15: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the concerned authorities to expedite the expansion work of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital. She also directed to take steps for land acquisition at Chittagong Airport.

The Prime Minister issued the directive on Tuesday (March 15) at her official residence Ganobhaban after witnessing the progress (first phase) (first revision) presentation of the expansion work of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

According to sources in the Prime Minister's Office, the total progress of the work is 32 percent and the work is expected to be completed by November 2023. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities to take the work forward keeping in mind the future.

The head of government emphasized on increasing the revenue of Bangladesh Biman. He also directed to arrange training for those concerned to strengthen the security arrangements at the airport.

Among others, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mahbub Ali, Senior Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office Md. Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mokammel Hossain and Chairman Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman were present.
