Prime Minister Hasina welcomed by 220 boats in Payra

Dhaka, March 21: The Prime Minister was welcomed by 220 colorful boats on the Rabnabad river in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was welcomed on Monday (March 21) at 10:42 am when she reached the 1320 MW thermal power plant. Later at 11.15 am the boat show started on the river Rabnabad adjacent to the jetty of Payra Thermal Power Station.

At this time the life style of the people of the coast is highlighted through the boat exhibition. The Rabnabad river area was abuzz with various banners, festoons and slogans including songs performed on the boat. At that time, the Prime Minister waved his hand and greeted the fishermen in the boat. Besides, the Prime Minister was seen capturing the scene of the boat show from her mobile.

Earlier in the morning, the boats were lined up at the mouth of the Rabnabad river. Of these, 100 boats were sailing, 100 boats had banners and festoons with pictures of the Prime Minister and the remaining 20 boats had security personnel. A total of 880 fishermen in 4 different colors in each boat welcomed the Prime Minister.

After inaugurating the 1,320 MW power plant, the Prime Minister inaugurated 100 per cent electrification of every house in the country. The Prime Minister inaugurated the foundation stone for the construction of Payra Thermal Power Station in 2016.
