Prime Minister of Bhutan pays homage to Bangabandhu

Dhaka, March 24: Visiting Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering has paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. At 12:20 pm on Tuesday, he paid homage to the Father of the Nation with flowers at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum premises at Dhanmondi No. 32.

Earlier, Bangabandhu's youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana welcomed the Prime Minister of Bhutan.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam was present on the occasion. Tshering later signed the visitors' book and visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.

"On behalf of the people of Bhutan and the Royal Government, I pay my respects and prayers to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for paving the way for unprecedented peace, prosperity and stability for the people by freeing them from the control of foreign exploitation," the Bhutanese Prime Minister wrote in a visitor's book.

"His daughter Sheikh Hasina is now fulfilling Bangabandhu's dream of 'Golden Bengal' and with each passing year, Bangladesh is becoming more prosperous and its people happier."

"Thank you (Bangabandhu) for being a true leader. My country, your country, Bangladesh, Bangladesh," Tshering added.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Bhutan paid homage to the memory of the martyred freedom fighters at the National Memorial in Savar around 10.30 am.

Lotay Tshering arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday morning on a three-day official visit to attend the birth centenary and golden jubilee celebrations of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the Prime Minister of Bhutan with a bouquet of flowers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The state guest was greeted 21 times by artillery fire.
