Prime Minister pays tribute to Bangabandhu on the occasion of Mujibnagar Day

Dhaka, April 17: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of the historic Mujibnagar Day paid her deep respect by placing a wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at number 32 of Dhanmondi. She placed the wreath on the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Monday morning.

Awami League president Sheikh Hasina later placed another round of wreaths at Bangabandhu's portrait along with senior members of her party as the party chief. Historical Mujibnagar Day is being celebrated today to mark the formation of the first government of Bangladesh to lead the liberation war in 1971.

Besides, Awami League leaders and activists laid wreaths at the graves of Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad and M Mansoor Ali at Banani Cemetery.

On the occasion of Mujibnagar Day, various political and social organizations including Awami League paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Parliament Deputy Leader and Presidium Member Begum Matia Chowdhury, Shajahan Khan, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretary Ahmad Hossain paid tributes to the portrait of the Father of the Nation. And Sujit Roy Nandi, Science and Technology Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap, Information and Research Secretary Dr. Salim Mahmud, Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, Dept. Editor Barrister Biplab Barua, Deputy Secretary Sayem Khan and others were present.

On the occasion of Mujib Nagar Day, Dhaka Metropolitan South and North Awami League, Awami Jubo League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Awami Volunteer League, Krishak League, Jatiya Sramik League and various organizations of Awami League paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu.
