Dhaka, October 2: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has returned home after a two-week state visit to the United States to attend the 76th session of the United Nations. The plane carrying her landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:13 pm on Friday (October 1) Bangladesh time. Cabinet members and senior military and civilian officials welcomed the Prime Minister at the airport.

Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told the media that a VVIP chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines with Sheikh Hasina and her entourage left Washington Dulles International Airport for Dhaka on Thursday night.

He said Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Rabab Fatima bade farewell to the Prime Minister at the airport.

The plane carrying the Prime Minister arrived at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Finland at 7:40 am local time on Friday. Ambassador to Finland (Non-Resident) Md. Nazmul Islam received the Prime Minister at the airport. After a two-hour break, the plane left for Dhaka. The plane carrying her landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:13 pm Bangladesh time on Friday.

On the morning of September 17, the Prime Minister and her entourage left Dhaka for New York on a VVIP flight. The Prime Minister arrived in New York on September 19 after a two-day break in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

During her stay in New York, Sheikh Hasina addressed the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on 24 September. She followed in the footsteps of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and delivered a speech in Bengali.

The Prime Minister attended a number of high-level and closed-door meetings and held bilateral meetings with heads of various governments, states and organizations, during her stay in New York from 19 to 24 September.

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Prime Minister planted a sapling in honour of Bangabandhu at the UN Garden on the North Lawn of the United Nations Headquarters, on September 20.
