Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to know reason for delay in opening the university

Dhaka, October 4, 2021: After being closed for a long year and a half due to the outbreak of corona, the classroom teaching activities have started on September 12 in the educational institutions from primary to higher secondary in the country.

About a month later, most of the universities still could not start physical classes. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked why there is a delay in launching full-fledged classes in universities.

This information was given by Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam at a press briefing held at the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Monday (October 4).

Earlier, the cabinet meeting started at 10:30 am in the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the meeting in a video conference from Ganobhaban.

The cabinet secretary said, later the education minister said.

Dipu Moni told Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that the country's universities are governed by their own laws, in which case they have an issue.

Even then, I hope that all the universities will be open by this October.

The Education Minister also informed the Prime Minister that the use of residential halls of the university has become unsuitable due to its long closure during the Corona period. He added that students' books, chairs, tables and beds in the halls were also damaged. All kinds of preparations are being made including repairing them, all the universities will be opened this month.

Apart from this, the SSC-HSC examination will be held as per the announced date if no major disaster occurs, the education minister told the Prime Minister.
