Dhaka, March 3: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the country's scientists and researchers to work for national development with utmost diligence and responsibility.

She was speaking at the Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship, National Science and Technology Fellowship and Special Research Grants program among teachers, scientists, researchers and science students from various universities and research institutes on Thursday (March 3).

The Prime Minister said, "We are offering Bangabandhu Fellowship for MS, MPhil, PhD, and PhD-North programs in science and technology at home and abroad. From the financial year 2010-11 till now we have given Tk 225 crore 82 lakh to 596 people. In addition, we have given National Science and Technology Fellowship of Tk 137.53 crore to 22,220 students and researchers in M.Phil, PhD levels. Besides, we have given special grant of Tk. 178.93 crore in favour of 5,020 projects from 2009-10 to date."

Addressing the scientists and researchers, the Prime Minister said, "We am giving you fellowship / research grant from the revenue given by the people of the country. You have to work for national development with maximum labor and responsibility. Our government is committed to creating skilled human resources. Remember, the practical application of your innovative knowledge is for the benefit of the people."

At the same time, the Prime Minister called upon the private sector to come forward to utilize the domestic talent. "We want to build Bangladesh on technology," she said. "Everyone wants to have a minimum of technology. Technology is working tirelessly to bridge the gap."

At the same time, the Prime Minister urged everyone to get vaccinated against coronavirus. "Adhere to hygiene rules. Once there was fear and reluctance to get vaccinated, now the interest has increased."

"We are now vaccinating children up to 12 years," she said.
