Protestors in Dhaka form human chain, demand allowance for the unemployed

Dhaka, June 5: A human chain rally was held in front of the National Press Club on Saturday morning demanding social security for unemployed youth in Corona under the proposed budget, creation of a database of unemployed youth to provide employment or unemployment benefits and repeal of the proposed 15% income tax on private colleges and universities.

The Jatiya Jubo Jote- an affiliate of the JSD- and Bangladesh Chhatra League (H-N), carried out the program.

Roknuzzaman Rokon, president of the Jatiya Jubo Jote, presided over the rally. Directed by Rashedul Haque Noni, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (H-N).

JSD joint general secretary Shawkat Raihan, Md. Mohsin, Jatiya Sramik Jote president Saifuzzaman Badsha, Jatiya Jubo Jote general secretary Shariful Kabir Swapan and others spoke on the occasion.

Speakers at the rally said that in the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2021-22, looting of state financial resources, corruption, waste, consumption and luxury and spending in unproductive sectors should be stopped. Unemployed and unemployed youth in Corona should be brought under social security. Unemployed youth have to pay work or unemployment allowance. Training and banking assistance should be provided to the job seekers at home and abroad.

They demanded the introduction of integrated online-onsite education program to continue the education of students, provision of covid vaccine to teachers and students on an urgent basis for resumption of normal activities of education, repeal of proposed 15 percent income tax on private colleges and universities and allocation of 8 percent of education budget.
