Terrorist Raid on Kulaura militant hideout, 13 arrested
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 13 August 2023: The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of the Police arrested 13 people, including children, from the militant hideout in the remote hilly area of Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar District. Mohammad Asaduzzaman, head of this specialized unit of the police, informed the media persons present after the operation on Saturday, August 12.
The arrested are Shariful Islam (40) of Satkhira, Hafiz Ullah (25) of Kishoreganj, Khairul Islam (22) of Narayanganj, Rafiul Islam (22) of Sirajganj, Meghna (17) of Narayanganj, Abida (12 months) of Narayanganj, Shapla Begum (22) of Pabna. , Zubeda (18 months), Huzaifa (6), Maisha Islam (20) of Natore, Sanjida Khatun (18) of Bogra, Amina Begum (40) of Satkhira and Habiba Binte Shafiqul (20).
At that time, Mohammad Asaduzzaman said, we had information that a new extremist organization had initiated a large number of people into extremism. We come to know that they have built their shelter in any hill of Moulvibazar. We get the final information on Friday. In Dhaka we arrested one person who went to fetch his family from this militant hideout.
The CTTC chief also said that we were able to arrest them without using force. After taking them into custody, we conducted a massive search of the militant hideout and recovered about 3 kg of explosives and about 50 detonators. With which grenades and high explosives are made. 10 men and women have been arrested from the militant hideout. Among them 4 are men and 6 are women. There were also 3 children. Besides, 3 lakh 61 thousand taka, training material, combat boots, boxing bag and few bags of Jihadi books have been seized.
He said, this is a new organization, its name is Imam Mahmud Kafela. It is a new organization apart from the banned militant organizations in Bangladesh. We also got the name of the main person of this organization. Hopefully we will be able to reach him.
