Rifat takes oath as Comilla City Mayor
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 5: Awami League candidate Arfanul Haque Rifat, the winner of the Comilla City mayoral polls, has been sworn in as the Mayor of Comilla City Corporation. On Tuesday (July 5) morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually administered oath to him.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (July 5). Later, Local Government Minister Tajul Islam administered the oath to 27 general councilors and nine reserved councilors of Comilla City Corporation (CCC).
At that time, the Prime Minister directed the people's representatives to work for the country and the people. The Prime Minister urged the people to be vigilant against corona.
Awami League candidate Arfanul Haque Rifat won the mayoral race on June 15. He got 50,310 votes in 105 centres. His nearest rival Monirul Haque Sakku of the table clock symbol got 49,967 votes.
