Dhaka, July 10: A case has been filed over the fire accident that broke out at a factory belonging to Sajeeb Group, killing over 50 people. The group's chairman and seven others have been arrested.

After inspecting the factory at noon on Saturday (July 10th), Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told reporters that the whole country was stunned by the incident. The loss of so many lives at once is very sad. First three people and later 49 bodies were recovered. The fire service also rescued some survivors. So far eight people have been arrested.

He said a separate investigation committee has been set up into the incident. How many people worked in the factory, all will come out in the investigation. Government cooperation has been provided by the district administration. If further cooperation is required, it will be provided by the government.

Asked about the cases and the punishment of the culprits, he said, "Of course, there will be cases, with the slightest culprits being brought to justice under the law. I do not want to say anything in detail before the investigation. They must be tried at the end of the investigation."

Regarding child labor in the factory, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said action would be taken after investigating how many child laborers there were.

Asked about the roof of the factory building being locked and the stairs locked during the fire, the home minister said the fire service had rescued 17 people with a large ladder from the roof. Whether the stairs and the roof were locked will be investigated.

Later, Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zaidul Alam told reporters that a murder case has been registered under Section 302, naming eight people as plaintiffs. Sajib Group Chairman Abul Hashem, his son Sajib and six others have been arrested. The rest include the company's CEO, director, and in-charge of building security.
