Hasina-Lavrov Russian Foreign Minister holds courtesy meeting with PM Sheikh Hasina
Dhaka, Sept 8: Visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday morning.
A post about the meeting was shared on Twitter by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Lavrov arrived in Dhaka on a special flight from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, on Thursday evening.
Lavrov arrived in Dhaka before attending the G-20 summit to be held from Saturday in New Delhi, the capital of India. This is the first visit of a Russian foreign minister to Dhaka since the independence of Bangladesh.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen welcomed Lavrov at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday evening.
Before leaving Dhaka for Delhi to attend the G-20 summit, Lavrov visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the capital's Dhanmondi.

Lavrov wrote in the visitors' book at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum: "I am delighted to visit Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum. We remember his important role as a fighter for the country's freedom. The Soviet Union gave significant support to his struggle and the Soviet Union was the first to recognize Bangladesh. One of the countries. They cherish the friendly relations established by Bangabandhu with common history and mutual interest between the two countries."
