Satkhira witnessing rise in COVID-19 cases, lockdown can be imposed anytime

Dhaka, May 30, 2021: Corona infection rate is increasing at an alarming rate in Satkhira since Eid.

The average rate of positive patients in the district in the last one week is 39 percent. It has been learned that new patients are not being admitted in Satkhira Medical College Hospital due to extra pressure of patients and lack of corona beds in the hospital. However, the hospital authorities have denied the matter.

In the last 24 hours, 24 people have been affected by the sample test of 6 people. Their house has been locked down.

On Saturday (May 29) evening, Satkhira Sadar Hospital Corona Information Officer. Jayant Kumar Ghosh said that about 100 passport holders among the Bangladeshis returning to India have been kept in quarantine. A total of 30 percent of corona sample collectors this week were infected. Last week, the infection rate was 40 percent. Samples of the victims have been collected and sent to Dhaka. Whether there is an Indian type or not cannot be said till the report is received. Although the rate of infection is a little less this week, it is feared that the situation may increase in the future.

Satkhira Medical College Hospital caretaker said. Kudrat-i-Khoda said the medical college hospital has 100 beds for corona patients. There were more than 100 patients last week. At present 49 patients are admitted. The rest have recovered and returned home. Four of the eight ICU beds have corona positive patient admissions.

Arafat Hossain, president of the Import-Export Business Association at Bhomra Land Port, told Jago News that truck drivers, helpers and evacuees are coming from India to take goods. Their quarantine is being confirmed. More and more people are coming to Bangladesh illegally through the 138 km border every day. It is important to take steps in this regard to keep Satkhira safe.
