Sheikh Hasina elected Parliament Leader, Shirin Sharmin as Speaker again

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 10 January 2024: Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has been elected Parliament Leader for the fourth time in a row. Sheikh Hasina was elected as the parliamentary leader in the party's parliamentary party meeting held after the swearing in of Awami League MPs on Wednesday.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader proposed the name of the parliament leader. Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton supported the proposal. Later it was accepted unanimously. In addition to the election of the leader of the parliament, the deputy leader of the parliament was also elected in the meeting. Begum Matia Chowdhury, the deputy leader of the 11th National Parliament, has been made the deputy leader of the 12th National Parliament.

Meanwhile, in the meeting of the parliamentary party, it was decided to elect the current speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury as the speaker again. Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku was also retained. Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton has also been retained in his post. He will also serve as the secretary of the parliamentary party of Awami League.
