Dhaka, February 19: There will be six levels of security for wreath-laying at the central Shaheed Minar on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mohd. Shafiqul Islam.

The DMP commissioner said there would be no shortage of security for handing over wreaths at the Shaheed Minar. In addition to the uniformed police, there will be white-clad police, bomb disposal unit, DB, RAB, SWAT team and dog squad. Six levels of maximum security measures have been taken.

He said it was not yet certain whether His Excellency the President and Hon'ble Prime Minister would come to lay wreaths. However, appropriate security measures have been taken. Overall security measures have been taken as soon as they arrive.

The DMP commissioner said there would be police checkposts on every road around the Shaheed Minar. There will be CCTV cameras in the outer area and inside the check post. Stating that there are some restrictions for Covid this time, he said, "We request everyone to abide by the guidelines announced by the government and the Dhaka University authorities in complying with the health rules. After the wreath-laying, you will return to your family. So follow proper hygiene rules keeping in mind your safety and the safety of your family."

He said no one would be allowed to carry any kind of bag during the tribute. Be careful when using your mobile phone. Because every year a lot of mobile phones are stolen from this Shaheed Minar area. Hundreds of people line up. This makes it difficult for us to catch the issue of mobile theft.

"I will request everyone not to get dirty in any political banner-festoon. And if anyone is pulling these banners and festoons, then DU and DMP will jointly remove them," he also, adding that foreign ambassadors and diplomats would be brought to the Shaheed Minar separately.
