Six of a Kishoreganj family among 14 missing in Rupganj fire

Dhaka, July 10: Fourteen workers, including six from the same family in Kishoreganj, are missing in the horrific fire at a beverage factory in Narayanganj's Rupganj. A woman and a man, who jumped from the fourth floor of the factory to escape the fire, managed to survive.

It is learned that the fire broke out on the ground floor of Hashem Food and Beverage Factory in Karnagop area of ​​Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj at 5:42 pm on Thursday (July 8). At that moment the fire spread around. Three people died on the spot after jumping from the factory building after the fire broke out. In addition, many more workers were trapped inside the building. So far, 14 male and female workers of Kishoreganj are on the missing list.

The list of missing workers includes Nazmul Islam, an SSC candidate from Dakshin Kalianda village in Danapatuli union of Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj district; Taslima of Gauripur village in Ikatiadi upazila; Four women including Rabia and two more men and women from Shimultala village of the same union; Shaila, six members of the same family from Kadamtali village in Joyka union of Karimganj upazila; Rehana, Jahanara, Hakima, Mahmuda and Ahad and Jahanara Begum of Maturapara Bilpar village of the same union.

Asma Akhter and Sohag Mia of Gauripur village in Katiadi upazila of the district came back alive after jumping from the third floor of the factory.

Visiting the villages of Sadar, Katiadi and Karimganj upazilas of the district at 12 noon on Friday, it was seen that the surrounding environment has become heavy with the cries of the relatives of the missing workers.
