Smuggled goods including mortar shells worth Tk 134 cr seized during BGB ops at border

Dhaka, December 3: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods and drugs worth Tk 134 crore 37 lakh 13 thousand in raids in November. These smuggled goods were seized by conducting raids in various border areas of the country. Besides, 7 pistols, 24 mortal shells and various weapons have been recovered.

On Friday (December 2), Public Relations Officer of BGB Md. Shariful Islam shared this information. He said, the seized drugs include 5 lakh 21 thousand 989 pieces of yaba, 2 kg 162 grams of crystal meth ice, 4 kg of heroin, 12,576 bottles of phensidyl, 18,910 bottles of foreign liquor, 1,315 cans of beer, 214 liters of Bengali. Liquor, 1,881 kg of ganja, 1 lakh 37 thousand 384 packets of cigarettes and cigarettes, 23,974 narcotic injections, 8,592 iscaf syrup, 1,618 bottles of Mkdil/Cofidil, 2 lakh 91 thousand 676 pieces of various types of drugs, 42,100 Enegra/Senegra tablets and 1 lakh 50 thousand 873 other tablets.

Other contraband items seized include- 55 kg 546 grams gold, 7 kg silver, 2 lakh 12 thousand 563 cosmetics, 10,494 imitation jewellery, 17,424 sarees, 6,011 three-pieces/shirts/chadars/blankets, 1,631 garments, 2,989 cubic feet of wood, 6,80 kg of tea leaves, 78,533 kg of coal, 54 kg, 500 g of turtle bones, 1 rough stone statue, 2 trucks/covered vans, 3 microbuses/cars, 5 pickups, 24 CNG/Easybikes and 68 Motorcycles. The weapons recovered include 7 pistols, 8 guns, 8 cocktails, 24 mortal shells, 1 magazine and 56 rounds.

In addition, legal measures have been taken after arresting 216 people for involvement in drug trafficking and other smuggling and 104 Bangladeshi citizens and 6 Indian citizens for illegally crossing the border during BGB raids.
