State cannot be strong if Judiciary is weak: Chief Justice

Dhaka, 9 July 2023 : Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui has said that if the judiciary is weak, the state can never be strong.

He said this in the speech of the chief guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony of 'Naya Kunj' rest room for litigants at Pabna District and Sessions Judge Court premises on Saturday morning.

Chief Justice said, we are trying to ensure that people get justice easily in less time and less cost. That is why the judges are being urged to speed up the judiciary and complete the trial process as soon as possible. The Judiciary is working on a plan to bring the backlog to tolerable levels within the next five years.

Later, Chief Justice Pabna District and Sessions Judge planted a sapling of Bacula flower in the court premises and visited the museum next to the court premises. He then held a meeting with local court judges regarding the case.

Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui attended the discussion meeting of the District Bar Association in the afternoon. During the speech of the chief guest, he urged the lawyers to settle the total cases quickly.

Pabna Senior District and Sessions Judge Begum Shamim Ahmed, Supreme Court Bar Association Finance Committee Chairman Advocate Rabiul Alam Budu, Pabna Bar Senior Advocate Abdur Rahim and others spoke at the exchange meeting under the chairmanship of Advocate Aktaruzzaman Mukta, President of J Lawyers Association and Editor Advocate Abdul Ahad Babu.
