Dhaka, March 20: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid mentioned that developed countries should come forward to build a green and tolerant world.

In a round table meeting in Berlin, Germany on Tuesday, he also said that without mutual cooperation and coordinated initiatives, mobility of financial resources and unconditional exchange of technology, the expansion of renewable energy will not happen. Keeping this in mind, the discussion should be done with the attitude of cooperation.

He said that Bangladesh will generate 40 percent of electricity from renewable sources by 2041 despite various challenges. From developed countries, there is a need for technical cooperation and exchange of excellence in developing modern grid systems and capabilities. Germany can take effective initiatives to promote renewable technologies, especially wind power generation.

The state minister said that the cooperation of the international community is necessary to reduce the rate of carbon emission significantly. The production and use of climate neutral products requires financial support and mobilization of financial resources for the management of renewable energy. Without these, the use of renewable energy will not increase.

The round table meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalina Berbock, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Action Dr. Robert Habeck and representatives of various countries.
