Sultan of Brunei to arrive in Dhaka tomorrow, to be welcomed by President Hamid

Dhaka, October 14: Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III is coming to Bangladesh on a three-day state visit tomorrow, Saturday. Bangladesh President Md. Abdul Hamid will welcome Sultan at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12 noon.

Sultan is visiting Dhaka for the first time on the invitation of the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The Sultan's entourage will include members of the royal family, ministers from various Brunei ministries and high-ranking government officials. He will have a meeting with President Abdul Hamid at the Credential Hall of Sultan Bangabhaban at 7 pm. Afterwards, the Sultan of Brunei will sign the book at the gallery hall of the Bangabhaban.

President Hamid will host a state dinner and cultural program in honor of the Sultan at the Durbar Hall of Banga Bhavan at 7:35 PM.

On the second day of the visit, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Sultan of Brunei will hold a bilateral meeting. The Sultan of Brunei will return home on October 17.

Bangladesh wants to sign an agreement and two memorandums of understanding (MOU) with the country during the three-day visit of Hassanal Bolkiah. In a press conference last Tuesday, the foreign minister said that bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding are likely to be signed in addition to discussions on bilateral cooperation in various fields during the state visit of the Sultan.

These include- Bilateral Aviation Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding on Bangladeshi Manpower Recruitment Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding on Recognition of Certificates of Seafarers by the two countries.
