Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 17: Tanjim Ahmed Sohail Taj, son of former state minister for home affairs and one of the leaders of the liberation war, Tajuddin Ahmed, said that he will respond whenever the Awami League calls him.

On Monday (August 15), he said this in response to the questions of journalists when he came to pay respects to the martyrs of August 15 at the Banani cemetery.

In response to a question about returning to politics, Sohail Taj said, "Actually, I am the son of a political family. My father Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed led the great liberation war. My mother was the convener of the Bangladesh Awami League after 1975. Awami League is in our blood. I was, am, and will remain of Awami League. I have always said that if you need me, you will get me whenever you call me."

He said, "Bangabandhu's contribution to Bangladesh should be properly highlighted. If we want to build a beautiful Bangladesh, we need to build Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal). To build a Sonar Bangla, we have to create golden people. Because, the development of a country, the future is created by the people of that country. I think, we have to take initiative now to make those golden people, good people. On this sad day, we should all take an oath to establish ourselves as good people."

Banani Cemetery was opened for all after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage at around 7 am. After that, the Mayor of Dhaka North and South, Chhatra League President, Sohail Taj, and others laid wreaths at the tombs of martyrs at Banani Cemetery.

Besides, on the occasion of the National Mourning Day and the 47th Martyrdom Anniversary, the leaders and activists of Awami League-affiliated organizations and general people paid tribute to the portraits of the martyrs at Banani Cemetery.
