Dhaka, July 19: From July 1 this year, teachers and employees under MPO will get 'special benefit' at the rate of 5 percent. This special benefit will be a minimum of Tk 1,000. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (July 18).

Earlier notification was issued for the employees and pensioners of Government-Civilian, Self-Government and State-Owned Institutions, Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions, Border Guard Bangladesh and Police Force under the National Pay Scale.

According to the notification, this special benefit will be a minimum of Tk 1,000 for employees and a minimum of Tk 500 for pensioners. After the notification of special benefits for government employees, a separate notification announced the provision of 5 percent special benefits for teachers and employees belonging to MPOs.

It is said that teachers and employees belonging to MPO will get special benefits at the rate of 5 percent of the basic salary due on July 1 every year from July 1 of this year, but not less than one thousand rupees.

Earlier in the notification issued with 5 percent special benefits for government employees, it is said that under the powers provided in section 15 of the Government Employment Act, 2018, public-civilian, autonomous and state-owned institutions, banks, insurance and financial institutions, Border Guard Bangladesh and police under the national pay scale. Special benefits at the rate of 5 per cent have been provided to the employees and pensioners of the armed forces from July 1.

This 'special benefit' will be payable at a minimum rate of Tk 1,000 for employees and Tk 500 for pensioners.
