Ten sets of Metro Rail will run from Uttara to Agargaon

Own representative, Dhaka, 13 December: Metro Rail has started trial run on the route from Uttara to Agargaon on Sunday. The train ran on a fully electric line in this 11.58-kilometre-long section. A set of Metro Rail reached Agargaon after crossing eight stations at 11:00 am. Earlier, the train left Uttara for Agargaon at 9:39 am.

The speed of Metro Rail from Uttara to Mirpur-10 was 100 kilometers per hour. However, trains have been run from Mirpur-10 to Agargaon at a speed of 15 to 25 kmph.

Earlier, the performance of the train from Uttara to Mirpur was tested but Sunday's test till Agargaon was the first. The stations crossed by Metro Rail on Sunday are: Uttara North, Uttara Center, Uttara South, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, Shewrapara and Agargaon. Metro Rail project personals were the passengers of the performance test.

Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique said at a function held at Agargaon station that the commercial operation of Metrorail will start upto Agargaon on December 16 next year. Its continuation is this performance test. In the second phase, Metro Rail will run the rest of the route in December 2023. "We are working towards that goal. Metro Rail will run in real time. The train will leave at the scheduled time and reach the stations at the scheduled time."

He said. "Today is a very important day in our nation. In the month of victory we are able to test the performance up to Agargaon. We will be able to complete the construction of the viaduct up to Doyel Square this month. The construction of viaduct up to Motijheel will be completed by January 2022."
