The 24th session of Bangladesh Parliament to begin today

The 24th session of the 11th National Parliament and the 4th session of 2023 will begin today, Sunday, September 3 at 5 pm. Before the session starts, there will be a working advisory committee meeting at 4 pm.

How many working days the session will last will be finalized in this meeting.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury will preside over the meeting.

Parliament Leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Opposition Leader Roshan Ershad will attend the meeting.

On August 16, President Md. Sahabuddin convened the 24th and 2023 fourth sessions of the 11th National Parliament.

He convened this session under the power given in Clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

It is known that the a condolence motion on the death of Member of Parliament of Natore-4 Constituency Abdul Quddus will be broughton the floor. After the general discussion on the condolence motion, it will be accepted.

Being a Member of Parliament of the current Parliament, as per custom, the agenda of the sitting day of the Parliament may be suspended and adjourned. Besides, 22 important laws will be raised in this session. It is reported that the much talked about 'Cyber Security Act, 2023' may be raised.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed some restrictions to maintain peace and order in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan and its surrounding areas during the Parliament session.

The ban was issued in an order signed by DMP Commissioner Khandkar Ghulam Farooq on Saturday. The order prohibits the carrying of all types of weapons, explosives, other harmful and polluting materials in the concerned area from 12:00 PM on Saturday (September 2). Besides, any kind of assembly, march, procession and demonstration has been prohibited.
