Dhaka, September 9: In a written order challenging the validity of the remand of actress Pori Moni in the drug case, the High Court said that the police department should understand that human life is very valuable. The remarks were made in a five-page written order issued after the signing of a High Court bench of Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal on Wednesday (September 8).

The High Court said the investigating officer had remanded Pori Moni three times in violation of the High Court order. Where for the first time remand has given him enough time to interrogate. The High Court further said that the police department should understand that human life is extremely valuable. Police cannot seek remand without a legal basis. However, the police have remanded her three times in this case, which calls into question the criminal justice system.

Incidentally, on August 4, after a four-hour operation, RAB arrested Pori Moni and her accomplice Dipu from their home in Banani. At this time various drugs were seized from Pori Moni's house. Later on August 5, RAB-1 filed a case against the actress and her accomplice under the Narcotics Act at Banani Police Station. After the third remand, the court ordered to send her to jail in a drug case filed with the Banani Police Station on August 21. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam passed the order after a hearing.

Later on August 22, Pori Moni was granted bail in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes. The court fixed September 13 for hearing on the appeal. However, the court granted bail to Pori Moni on August 31 after fixing the new date for her bail hearing.
