Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 7 November 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is on a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, performed Umrah at the Holy Mosque Masjidul Haram in Makkah on Monday morning. The Prime Minister first performed 'Tawaf' and 'Safa-Marwa' around Kaaba Sharif along with his younger sister Sheikh Rehana. Sheikh Hasina offered prayers at the holy mosque.

On this occasion, she wished for continued peace, prosperity and progress of Bangladesh and the people of Bangladesh as well as the entire Muslim Ummah.

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Prime Minister's Adviser on Private Industry and Investment Salman Fazlur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Nesa Indira and other members of the tour also performed Umrah. Earlier, the Prime Minister offered Fajr prayers in congregation at the Holy Mosque Masjidul Haram.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a special visit to the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) at Masjid Nabawi. She offered Asr prayers and recited Fateha at Masjid an-Nababi and wished for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh as well as the entire Muslim Ummah.

Earlier, she arrived at the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah at 1:10 PM local time from Dhaka to attend the International Conference on Islamic Women's Affairs held in Jeddah. Saudi Arabia is organizing this conference on November 6 and 8 in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

She is scheduled to meet with OIC Secretary General Hissen Ibrahim Taha, Vice President of Iran's Department of Women and Family Affairs Ensieh Khajali, OIC Women's Development Executive Director Dr. Afnan Alshuaibi and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. Apart from attending the conference, she will attend the opening of the Women in Islam exhibition and a dinner in her honour.
