Dhaka, 8 January 2023 : Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that there is no caretaker government anywhere in the world except in Pakistan.

We do not want an unconstitutional, abnormal government, he said.

People of Bangladesh do not want this unusual government. As elections are held in other democratic countries of the world, elections will be held in the same way in Bangladesh. The government will not interfere in the elections. The government will only perform its routine duties.

He said these things in response to questions from journalists after paying respects at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Saturday (January 7) at noon.

Earlier, at 1:10 PM, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with central leaders laid wreaths at Bangabandhu's tomb.

Obaidul Quader said, I will call the opposition party to come to the election. To exist must come. Why are you only hurting the people of the country, why are you punishing the voters in the name of movement. We hear you have even more terrifying programs ahead.

I urge you to refrain from these. Prepare for the next election. Let us choose together. The election will be fair and free. The election will be like the one that was held two days ago.

He also said that we are going through a challenging year. We may have more challenging years ahead. We have held the 22nd conference to meet the challenges, given committees at the district and upazila levels. Inshallah Awami League is now ready to face any challenge.
