Dhaka, May 6: Law Minister Anisul Huq said that the process of amending the law to prosecute Jamaat as a war criminal political party is underway. He made this comment in response to reporters' questions after inaugurating a training workshop for government judges at the judicial training institute in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

In response to the questions of journalists whether the government lacks sincerity in the trial of Jamaat, the law minister said that it was the Awami League government that tried the top leaders of Jamaat in the case of crimes against humanity and executed exemplary punishment. Therefore, it is sad for us to question that the government is not sincere in the judgment of Jamaat. The process of amending the law to prosecute Jamaat is ongoing.

In response to another question, the law minister said that the case regarding cancellation of registration of Jamaat is pending in the Appellate Division. So I will not say anything about the pending matter.

Addressing the judges, the law minister said that they should play a role in solving the case by following the judicial decision (judgment of the Supreme Court). He said that the budget for judiciary has been increased more than any other government. Arrangements have been made for training of judges at home and abroad. Infrastructural facilities have been enhanced. Now it is your responsibility to ensure that people get speedy justice.

Director General of Judicial Training Institute Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana presided over the program and Law Secretary Md Golam Sarwar spoke.
