Dhaka, June 19: The third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be inaugurated in the first week of next October. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali said this while participating in the general discussion on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 in the National Parliament on Sunday.

The Minister of State said that the crisis of 2019 Corona is faced by the turbulent situation of the world economy in the war situation of Ukraine-Russia. At that time our budget of this huge amount of money is undoubtedly a positive role on the part of the government.

Mahbub Ali said that a great revolution has been achieved in the aviation sector under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Construction of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at a cost of Tk 22,118 crore is nearing completion. I believe that I will be able to inaugurate this terminal in the first week of October next subject to the permission of the Prime Minister. If this terminal is constructed, one of the most modern airports in the world will be operated in our country. Its total area will be 3 lakh 30 thousand square meters. Annual passenger capacity will be 20 million.

He said, we have increased the strength of Shah Amanat Airport runway. We have hired consultants for the airport extension. Prime Minister's directive, since Cox's Bazar Airport is in the international route, with the goal of setting up a refueling center at the airport, the work of developing the international airport is progressing in full swing so that flights from all over the world can directly land in Cox's Bazar.
