Thirty-two Bangladeshis died of coronavirus in Bahrain in May

Dhaka, June 8: At least 32 Bangladeshis died of coronavirus in the month of May in Bahrain. Accoding to reports, 78 Bangladeshis have died so far with the deadly virus in the Middle Eastern nation.

Bahrain has reported 2,51,078 cases till date and have registered 1,119 deaths.

Around 2,00,000 Bangladeshis reside in Bahrain.

According to the Bangladeshi embassy in the Middle Eastern nation, 227 Bangladeshis have died in Bahrain from January 2020 till June 6, 2021. While 109 people died of natural causes, 78 people succumbed to the coronavirus. Road accidents accounted for the death of 21 people, eight people lost their lives to work place accident and seven people killed themselves.

Among those who died of natural causes, most of them suffered heart ailments and brain strokes.

Abdul Quader Majumder, general secretary of the Bangladesh Journalist Forum Bahrain, said expatriates who suffer from heart disease usually live in foreign countries due to financial debt and family stress. He urged the families in Bangladesh to encourage the expatriates so that they can be happy after work and not always stress about their families back home.

Sheikh Mohammad Touhidul Islam, Labor Secretary (Labor Counselor) of the Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain, said that if someone dies of coronavirus, the body is buried here as soon as possible with the permission of relatives in the country as per the rules of the Bahraini government.

In addition, the bodies of the accident or normal dead are sent to the country as soon as possible. Of course, the bodies of those who are legally working here are sent with the help of their respective owners and the bodies of those who are illegal and whose owners are unable to pay the expenses are sent through the embassy with the financial support of various individuals and organizations in the community.

He added that there are currently more than 45,000 Flexi Visa Bangladeshi workers in Bahrain. He said the embassy was planning insurance for them.
