Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 9 January 2024: Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "In the 12th National Parliament elections, the people of the country voted spontaneously, elected people's representatives, this victory is the victory of the people." She said this while exchanging courtesies with local and foreign observers and journalists on the occasion of the 12th National Assembly election at Ganabhaban on Monday 8th January afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina said, "I have elected eight times. This time again. This time the people participated spontaneously. 80 percent of the people of Bangladesh were poor. Bangabandhu's goal was that the people of the country would have a better life. The ideals that my father worked with, I have to complete that work."

She said, "August 15, 1975. 18 members of my family were killed. My younger sister Sheikh Rehana and I survived. We were refugees for six years. A very difficult life. In 1981, the people of the country brought me home."

The Prime Minister said, "Military dictators did not allow my party to do politics. They stopped the trial of war criminals and put them in power. In that situation, I returned to the country. My aim was to protect people's right to vote, to establish democracy. My path was not easy. I saw death up close again and again. I am working with the ideals of my father. I am working to ensure people's food, clothing, education, treatment, employment. After 21 years, I started working for the people by forming the government."

The Awami League president said, "My goal is to ensure people's right to vote. Apart from nominating their own candidates in this election, I have made it open for everyone. People have voted spontaneously. This victory is the victory of the people."

She said, "One party has boycotted the elections. The parties created by military dictators are afraid of elections because they do not have popular support."

She thanked the foreign observers and journalists on behalf of himself, his family and the people of the country for coming to Bangladesh. She said, "You will go back to your respective countries, talk about our country. Our country is very beautiful."
