Dhaka, November 28: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has said that when Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on the verge of becoming the 'Golden Bengal' that Bangabandhu's dreamt of, the anti-independence activists are trying to create an issue with Bangabandhu's sculpture, as they have nothing else to do. But the conspirators will have to face the public.

The minister spoke at the main guest event of the Prestigious Festival of Rishis Arts and Cultural Events held at the Art Academy in the capital on Friday (November 27).

The event was being organised to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 44th anniversary of the Rishi Shilpi Gosthi.

He further said that anti-independence people have been conspiring against Bangabandhu and Bangladesh since the time of great liberation war.

After the assassination of Bangabandhu and his family in 1975, they made Bangladesh a mini Pakistan.

Whether the opposition to Bangabandhu's sculpture is part of a series of conspiracies by anti-independence activists remains to be seen.

Biplob Barua, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and Office Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, Golam Quddush, President of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, President of Film Directors Association and others also spoke on the occasion.

Media personality Nawazish Ali Khan, actress Salma Begum Sujata, actor and freedom fighter Raisul Islam Asad, music artist Md. Khurshid Alam and reciter Bhaswar Bandopadhyay were honored.
