Dhaka, July 14: Questioning the 'Bangladeshi citizenship' of those who disobey the constitution, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said that it is not right for those who disobey the constitution to claim themselves as citizens of Bangladesh.

He said, "After independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave us a constitution. We will hold elections based on that constitution. And I think it is not right to claim Bangladeshi citizenship for those who do not follow the constitution."

The minister said these things in response to questions from journalists at Akhaura railway station area of Brahmanbaria on Friday (July 14) morning.

The law minister said, "BNP leaders will say many things. We follow the constitution. Elections will be held according to the constitution. The reason is that this country became independent through the liberation war in exchange for the blood of 3 million martyrs. Elections will be held according to the constitution left by the father of the nation in that independent country. Those who disobey the constitution are Bangladeshis themselves. Claiming citizenship doesn't seem right."

This morning, the Law Minister went to Akhaura on the Mahanagara Prabhati train. He went down to the station and gave a short speech to the party leaders and workers. Then he answered the questions of the journalists. At the time, he said, "Bangladesh is a developing country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given us some guidelines. Accordingly, we will make Bangladesh a 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041." The minister will participate in various pre-arranged programs at Kasba-Akhaura throughout the day.

A large number of leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and Mahila League were present among others.
