Dhaka, April 29: Three Bangladeshi women have been named in Asia's top 100 scientists for their important contributions to research. Last Monday, the list was published under the headline 'The Asian Scientist 100' by the Singapore-based magazine 'Asian Scientist'.

The list includes Bangladeshi women scientists: Dr Firdausi Qadri of icddr,b, Dr Salma Sultana of Model Livestock Advancement Foundation in Bangladesh and Prof Samia Subrina of Bangladesh University Engineering and Technology.

According to the website of Asian Scientist, this is the sixth time this list has been made. Researchers and inventors have been selected to play a key role in tackling this year's major problems, ranging from climate change to coronaviruses.

This website provides a brief overview on the identities of scientists and their research. In addition to Bangladesh, scientists from China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam topped the list.

During this critical time of the Corona epidemic, they have played a unique role in research in a variety of fields, from molecular imaging to quantum computing.

The Singapore-based magazine 'Asian Scientist' has been publishing such a list since 2016 to recognize the achievements of Asian talents. The list includes only those scientists-researchers who have received any national or international award in the relevant year. They also have a role in any effective discovery.
