Three MoUs signed during Hasina-Wangchuk meeting

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 26 March 2024: Bangladesh and Bhutan signed three new MoUs and renewed an old agreement.

A meeting was held in the presence of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday. Later, after the meeting between the two leaders, three MoUs were signed and an agreement was renewed.

The concerned officials signed the book on behalf of the two countries. The agreements are - establishment of a burn and plastic surgery unit in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, establishment of special economic zone for Bhutanese investment in Kurigram and agreement on technical cooperation in consumer protection. An agreement on cultural cooperation was also renewed.

The King of Bhutan arrived on a four-day visit to Bangladesh on Monday morning. On the first day, he held a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the state level. The King of Bhutan arrived at the Prime Minister's office shortly after 1:00 PM today to participate in the state level meeting. At this time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed the state guest at Tigergate. Later, the two top leaders sat in a private meeting. Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan was present at this time.
