Three Nigerian nationals detained from Sylhet border
Dhaka, July 8: Three Nigerian nationals, including a child, have been detained about a kilometer and a half from the Tamabil land port near the Sylhet border. On Thursday (July 8) morning, a team of intelligence agencies arrested them on the basis of a tip-off.
A laptop, nine mobile phones, three passports, a driving license, an Indian Aadhaar card, a Nigerian NID card, USD 1,600 and INR 280 were seized from them.
The detainees were identified as Emmanuel Nnamdi Ohagwam, 42, his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and Paul Ebeodi Okechukwu, 27. The child's passport mentions Nigerian nationality but the address is New Delhi.
The matter has been confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station Parimal Dev. He said a team of intelligence agencies arrested three people, including a child, from the Tamabil land port area. They were handed over to Gowainghat police station at noon.
They will now be questioned about their whereabouts.
