Tk 3.77 crore missing from Bangshal branch of Dhaka Bank, two held

Dhaka, June 18: Police in Dhaka arrested two employees from Dhaka Bank's Bangshal branch after officials alleged a total of Tk 3,77,66,000 has been missing from the vault. The arrested persons have been identified as vault in-charge Rifatul Haque (32) and Emran Ahmed (45).

On Friday (June 18) morning, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Bangshal Police Station Md Rezaul said the bank authorities handed over the two to the police on Thursday night in connection with the disappearance of Tk 3.77 crore from the vault of Bangshal branch of Dhaka Bank. They have been sent to court.

"There will be a case in this regard. Later the case will go to the ACC and we will also hand over the accused to the ACC. The ACC will investigate the matter," he said.

Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Md. Jasim Uddin Mollah said, "Abu Bakkar Siddique, Bangshal branch manager of Dhaka Bank, handed over the two officers to the police. He alleged that through the audit, they came to know that these two officials had embezzled Tk 3 crore 77 lakh and 66 thousand from the vault of the bank. We have sent the two arrested officers to court under section 54. We are following the legal process now,"
