Train, Bus service to remain shut during lockdown

Dhaka, April 4, 2021: If a lockdown is announced to prevent coronary infections, flights on domestic routes will also be suspended.

An order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration said that flights on domestic routes would be suspended from the day the lockdown begins. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has taken such a decision.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Saturday (April 3) that a one-week lockdown would continue in the country from Monday. He also mentioned that the final decision and instructions will be given by the Ministry of Public Administration. The government has taken this decision of lockdown as the coronavirus infection has increased alarmingly in the country recently. This information has been known from the sources of the health department.

Meanwhile, Commodore Golam Sadeq, chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), said that if the lockdown was given, the launch of passenger vessels (launches) would be suspended from 8 am on Monday (April 5).

"We are closing the passenger boats from 8 am on Monday," he said. As long as the lockdown lasts, it will remain closed. However, cargo ships will continue.

At this time, the Ministry of Railways has decided to stop the movement of passenger trains. However, freight trains will run. Passenger trains, like other modes of transport, will be closed at the lockdown. However, emergency freight trains will run.

Meanwhile, during the lockdown, the bus service will be closed like last time.
