Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 14: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that due to Corona pandemic, Russia-Ukraine war and the situation arising out of this war, there has been instability in commodity prices in the world market. Fuel prices have risen at an unusual rate.

She said fares have also risen sharply in international freight. As a result, the prices of some products have gone up in our country. But we are not sitting quietly. We are trying our best to bring relief to the lives of general people.

The Prime Minister said this while addressing the nation on the occasion of Bengali New Year on Wednesday (April 13).

Regarding TCB's products, the Prime Minister said, "During the current holy month of Ramadan, we have made arrangements to provide some essential commodities at affordable prices to about one crore families through subsidy through TCB. Arrangements have been made to sell meat, eggs and milk at affordable prices in 15 freezer vans every day through the Livestock Department in the capital Dhaka. As a result, the prices of many necessities have come down to normal."

The Prime Minister also said that the government has given special allocation of more than one lakh 330 metric tons of rice against one crore 33 thousand 54 VGF cards on the occasion of upcoming Eid.

Criticizing the media in her speech, Sheikh Hasina said that some media outlets are running propaganda as if there is famine in the country. "I strongly want to inform you that there is no shortage of any product including rice in the country. People will flock to TCB stores to buy products at affordable prices - that's normal. What could be the reason for highlighting it negatively!"
