Two Bangladeshi people die in Saudi road mishap

Dhaka, 26 March 2023 : Two Bangladeshis were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia while returning from performing the holy Umrah Hajj.

They are about brother-in-law and brother-in-law. According to family sources, the incident took place on Saturday (March 25) at 8 pm Bangladesh time.

One of the deceased is Sagar Jomaddar (23), the younger son of Motahar Jomaddar, a resident of Hosnabad Union in Betagi Upazila of Barguna.

The other is Mozammel Hossain (45), son of deceased Aziz Mridha, resident of Chailabunia area of Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali. Ujjal Jomaddar, the brother of the deceased Sagar, said that both of them were expatriates from Saudi Arabia.

According to family sources, Sagar Jomaddar and Mozammel Mridha lived as expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia.

They left for Makkah last Thursday from a place called Unaiza in Saudi Arabia for Umrah Hajj. On their way back to work after completing Umrah, they lost control of their car and crashed into a rocky hill. These two Bangladeshi citizens were killed on the spot. When an injured travel companion who was with him told the matter to the family of Sagar Jomaddar, who died in Bangladesh, they were convinced.

Meanwhile, their parents and relatives are maddened by the loss of the two breadwinners of the family. They have sought the help of the government to get the body back.

Betagi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Suhrid Salehin said that the Saudi Embassy will take all measures to bring the dead bodies of the two pilgrims to Bangladesh.
