Two coaches of Dhalarchar Express derail in Pabna, train service suspended

Dhaka, Dec 11: Two coaches of the Chapainawabganj-bound Dhalarchar Express train derailed in Pabna. The rail service on that route has been stopped following the accident. However, no casualty has been reported in this accident.

The accident took place in Ranigram area between Kashinathpur-Bandherhat railway station of Aminpur police station in Pabna at around 7:20 am on Monday (December 11).

An official of Bangladesh Railway said that Dhalarchar Express left for Chapainawabganj from Dhalarchar in Pabna on Monday morning. When the train reached Ranigram between Kashinathpur-Bandherhat in Pabna, eight wheels of two coaches suddenly derailed. However, there were no casualties.

Since the accident, rail service between Pabna and Ishwardi has been suspended.

Pakshi Western Region Divisional Engineer-2 Birbal Mandal said, "Relief train left from Locomotive Diesel Factory to rescue the Ishwardi accident train around 8:30 am on receiving the news. It will take some time to remove the train from the site and to restore the services on the route."

According to railway sources, a four-member investigation committee has been convened by Pakshi Divisional Railway Assistant Transport Officer Harun Or Rashid. This committee has been asked to submit an investigation report within the next three working days.
